Consuming adequate food and fluid before, during, and after activity can help maintain blood glucose during activity, maximize activity performance, and improve recovery time. Peanut butter and graham crackers are a good choice. 1/2 Sandwich. Just make sure you have an adequate meal at regular meal times. Water is best for hydration.

Thanks. So if I wanna to go gym in mornings I should have something light first. Does coffee count? And is it ok to incorporate a meal replacement drink into my diet everyday?

Yes, you should always eat breakfast, a meal replacement would fit nicely here. yes, coffee is fine. Good Luck! Sorry it took so long to reply. I didn't notice your question in the forum. YGG!

Hi Serenity,

I discussed pre-workout eating on my own blog quite recently: http://www.dietriffic.com/2007/08/27/pre-workout-snacks/

I hope that helps!

Hi Melanie,
Could you copy and paste your post into your iowa Avenue blog so we can have it here as well?

Thanks guys. Excellent. I shall be applying this next week.
I'm a little concerned though bec I will be at the gym by 6.30am and I find it difficult to eat anything substantial very early in the morning. I can handle coffee though or possibly a meal replacement drink or as Melanie suggested, a granola bar.

i usually eat afterwards, I hate to jog, walk rapidly with anything in my stomach. If I do exercise later in the day it has to be 2-3hrs after Ive eaten

Sal, this is how I do it, too. I'm not fond of exercising after eating. But, if I'm exercising last in the day, I eat a light lunch, then time my exercise for 2-3 hours later.
