Poll Feature: What type of container do you like to drink your coffee from?

I thought it might be more fun to put the poll in the discussion forum. Let's give it a try:

Do you have a question you'd like to ask on Iowa Avenue? Just email me...............

The funny thing is I do use a ceramic mug sometimes, but I actually prefer a glass mug - we have a couple that are my favorite.

Oh, I prefer everything in glass - plastic and teflon coating are hazardous to our health. Some ceramic mugs are as well. And definitely, stryrofoam. I always choose glass. Choosy mothers choose glass. Hey, where's glass mug?

Sorry, Metroknow and ATD, I didn't think of glass mug because I've only used them a couple times. But, I suppose that would fit into the "Other" category............:)

It's funny - here in Oregon it's been my experience that a lot of smaller drive-thru coffee places provide a straw and a chocolate-covered espresso bean when you buy a "fancy" drink (I was a mocha guy for years). The straw always puzzled me, being not from around here, and all it took was a time or two of searing my tongue by sipping hot coffee from a straw to make me skiddish. :) That said, it certainly is convenient when you're driving, trying to hold your cel phone, writing down notes, reading the paper, eating a donut, looking at your GPS, and forgetting your turn signal is still on.

LOL. :)

In CA, as of July 1, you can only use handless phone devices..................:)

How many washes can your foam cup do before it falls apart?

Reply to This

Well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they last that long, but I still am.

What is a surprise is the mother nursing while driving. How is it possible?

The strangest thing I saw another driver doing while driving, is a man playing with himself. I mean literally, with the zipper down, hanging out, and playing with himself. How did I know this? Upon glancing at the car, I realized the man had his rear view mirror pointed down in such a way so the whole demonstration could be viewed by passing drivers.....................:)

I love drinking from a ceramic mug. But am beginning to use travel mugs to get my coffee from my favorite local coffee shop on the way to the office rather than a paper cup.

I don't drink coffee, but my tea is in a ceramic mug. Anything else makes it taste weird... Great question! BTW, ATD, I haven't heard about harmful ceramic mugs - what's the scoop?

Lead is commonly used in the glaze of ceramic. Most imported ceramic mugs are toxic. There are other toxic materials used in the making of ceramics as well. I guess we could do a whole series on toxic materials in our dishware. Anyone up for the challenge?

I really should switch to glass though. Plastic scares the ish out of me! lol.

My children went to see the documentary at the theater. After watching this, they plan to improve their shopping even more. I will eventually see it at least when it comes to DVD so I can forward some animal slaughter parts... :(

Very powerful words, imagery, and message. I'm going to keep watching this. Great find Susana.
Great post! I clicked on the links and got even more information. I liked, "Focus on health, not diets" in one of them :)
