In yesterday's post on Almost Fit, I described one of my current inspirations - a writer who's goal is to inspire others to change the world. As I said there, he is, "no guru or prophet; he is simply an excellent writer who is striving to change the world by whispering the unheralded death of mediocrity through a global bullhorn."

I am inspired by lots of people including historical figures like Da Vinci and modern day artists like Andy Goldsworthy. In health and fitness specifically, I am inspired, honestly, by the group of writers that I read each day who are describing their successes, failures, thoughts, and humor. Real stories of real people are some of my greatest inspirations.

Who inspires you?

Wow what a great post. I have to say I am most inspired by women who can find their way even after the struggles they endure. I am on a new journey in my life and Lynn Bering at http://www.freewebs.com/lynnsjourney/ is someone I aspire to be. She has helped me see what I can achieve on my journey and not to let myself down. I am also inspired by my son. He is going after his dreams and not letting anyone or anything get in his way. Thanks for the post.

Well right now I'm being inspired by this pdf: http://chrisguillebeau.com/3x5/files/2008/06/worlddomination.pdf
Thanks for leading me to it. I'm half way through and just wanted to comment that I'm enjoying what I'm reading. I'm out to change the world you know!

My inspiration comes from people who work hard, might fall down a little, but pick themselves up, and continue working, always with a goal in mind. Excuses are not part of this equation. Oh, there might be a small reason every now and again, but excuse after excuse to me is a cop-out.

Hard work, dedication, and a love of learning will get people where they want to go, and I love reading these inspirational stories....................:)

Great post, Metroknow.

Everyday I find somebody that inspires me:

- An author, writer, blogger, news article, and the people that they write about

- The more I learn about the trials and tribulations that people endure, I am inspired by their courage and determination.

- The working man

- My parents

- Our brave soldiers

- Artists--famous or not

The list could go on and on.................)

Great topic and blog posting! As of late, a phrase that's been popping into my mind is Gandhi's "Be the change you want to see in the world." That has been my inspiration/the foundation for my intention this week. People who venture out to make positive change for themselves, their communities, each other...those are people who I find inspiring.

This morning, I was listening to Jimmy Eat World's ,World You Love, (btw- this is a great song to work out to) and the line, "I'm in love with the ordinary" grabbed my attention ....

Being in love with the ordinary, finding the beauty in, and appreciating everyday things... now that's inspiration! "Don't it feel like sunshine after all?!"

I would have to sound like a complete mummy's boy and say my mum inspires me. My mum has such a strong character, she has been through a lot in life and always goes through things and comes out the other end of the problem.

I owe it to my mum as she has influenced me to never give up and always say, "I can, and I will"

I love you mummy! :-)

My kids...they have so much curiosity, so much energy, such eagerness to do, to learn, to please, to be happy, to laugh, to be friends. They are the spice of my life and they keep me from falling apart at the seams sometimes.

My daugthers inspire me. They are so diligent in scholastic achievement and getting homework done every night and weekend, even doing work the car (while I'm driving, of course). They make me feel like I was a lazy bum when I was in school. I'm also inspired by great artistry and skill. Whether it's a great musician (like Buddy Rich or Wynton Marsalis) or a great actor (Daniel Day Lewis, Joan Allen, Hillary Swank), or an architect. Great achievement that makes a mark on a society is inspiring.
