For those of you who have blogs, do readers ever attack you for speaking the truth about health/nutrition? I'm a new blogger and my post on Yum Yucky about overeating Girl Scout cookies is causing a back lash. Several of the people who didn't like what I had to say are either overweight or know a Girl Scout.

Am I supposed to feel bad about this? I was just trying to create an awareness of how easy it is to over eat. Opinions, please.

Personally, I think it's an excellent post.

I've seen a fair share of dust-up's on Internet discussions, where none should have arisen. Don't take it personally, because even when you are telling the truth, or provide for alternative point's of view--which you were-- people sometimes are not open to new things. Josie. Just keep doing what you're doing and believe in.

Thanks guys. :)

You can't please everybody... some people get offended for anything. Just keep your good work :)

Don't take it personally....Some people obviously are just ignorant or just don't care. Just remember, we'll be around longer because we actually take care of ourselves.

Yeah I can see why. I don't know what the "good cause" the girl scouts do with their cookie bucks but it could be that and the fact that the girl scouts are an American icon (now I'm Scottish, so I could be wrong).

I would reply to each of them (your commenters) objectively, professionally and politely as possible BUT without giving up your believes.

Then go to sleep and have sweet dreams and not sweet cookies that will cause you to expand quicker than a bun in the oven.

Take care and keep going!

A few of the comments came through email so you don't see the worse of them. But thank you all. I'm encouraged!

People do product reviews on all kinds of things, including cookies. I'm glad you stuck to your guns and said what you wanted to say. As several other people commented, you can't please everyone, so why try................:)

You are doing a great job raising awareness. The take on that message is not that one shouldn't buy the cookies from the sweet girl scout but that one should be aware of what's in them. I have a girl scout at home and we do buy the cookies and we do eat them just not a box at a time. The occasional sweet treat and something as simple as eating in moderation---hmmm what a concept. Keep up the good work!

ahhhhh - girl scout cookies. One of my weaknesses. I seriously can, and do eat whole boxes. Hey, it's once a year... But I never would argue that is a good thing. That's crazy if you think for a minute that is in anyway not harmful!

As far as what the girl scouts do with the money - It supports girl scout activities. The troops get a certain percentage of the proceeds and they get to plan whatever kind of outing they want to. One year we did 6 flags - except it was cold and drizzlilng the day we went. One year we went to a dude ranch for a weekend. You might have guessed, it was cold and rainy...

The joys of being a troop leader. It was fun, but I'm glad we're past that. I do miss the cookies though...

I once completely ruined a 10 day detox diet with the lack of willpower I had while trying to detox for days on end...the girl scout cookies were just too tempting. As far as opinions...get over it...we all have one. You continue to write what you feel and what you know to be the truth. I wish people would remember "If you don't have anything nice to say...say nothing at all." What the internet offers is ambiguity and that leads to blurred lines of etiquette, sadly.

Hi Josie,
I think who ever said this should get a life! Best, Barb

Oh, I wish I could run a healthy restaurant or food store selling healthy prepared goodies... but it takes a lot of money and a lot of effort to compete with big ones! ................ :(
