What are the different types of variations that you put into your workouts?

If you don't change and vary your workouts then your body will get use to your workout and you could (and probably will) fall into a weight loss plateau.

Here are some of my tips for variations;

1. Adjust the weight; this doesn't mean the weight always needs to get heaver, it can get lighter too.
2. Start at the end; do your workout backwards, start with the last exercise and finish with the first.
3. Workout A & B; don't have just one workout have a few that you follow, if this week you A,B,A then next week you can B,A,B
4. Changing speed; if you are lifting or running use different speeds.
5. Rotating; when you are doing strength training then rotate during your movements; i.e. when doing a bicep curl you lift with palms out and when you get to the top of the movement rotate your palms facing in.
6. Cardio-Strength Mix; if you always do your cardio first before your strength training then sometimes do it last (but if your cardio is part of your warm-up then don't forget this!)

Maybe you can add to this list?

Your list looks great.

I've recently added a hill workout to my walking routine. Here in LA, almost all my walks contain hills, but what I've done now is just do one hill, up and down, for 30 minutes. I just started this routine, but I think it's going to step up my game a knotch.....................:)

I agree on mixing things up. It keeps your body guessing and also I always look forward to working out a little bit more when I know I'm doing something new that night at the gym.

I just did my first interval running session last weekend. I thought it would be easy, but boy was my body in shock!

That's what I thought--@ 28 weeks sounds like it may be a tough choice for women to "break" the cycle, though. Thanks for posting this very important information which, I'm sure, will benefit women for something to be aware of.

Interesting. Isn't it fairly typical for most pregnant women to gain weight anyway though?
