Back on Track

I’ve been struggling to find consistency since my triathlon a few weeks ago.  I’ve gone on a few runs here and there but I need to get back on track and be more disciplined. Today I’m creating my workout plans and getting them on paper.  No more excuses.  Just thought you should know so you can [...]

Social Media and Motivation

Yesterday I didn’t want to go running.  There was no reason, I was just feeling lazy.  Then I saw someone tweet about how good they felt about their workout that day.  That simple, 140-character message changed my whole mindset and later I went for a 6 mile run.  I felt great after and was glad I [...]

Weight or Health

I read this article in The Daily Universe (the campus newspaper for BYU) today about weight vs. health.  Here’s a quote from the article from one of my old professors: “The media and marketers have done a very good job at making us feel inadequate about our appearance.  They want to help us use their products [...]

Some Great Reads 6/26/09

It’s been a while since I gave any shout outs.  Here are some great posts/articles from around the web that I’ve read recently.  Enjoy them. The Tempation of Soda Taxes from Marion Nestle’s blog is an interesting read.  Check out the graph that shows the prices of soda and prices of fruits/veggies in last 10 years.  I’m [...]

A Note About Comments

I love comments.  They’re fun to read and fun to respond to.  Most of the time.  A lot of times I get comments from “Payday Loans” or “Teeth Whitening” or “Acai Berry Cure.”  That’s not gonna fly any more.  Any comment that is not from a name (real or fake, I don’t care) or from “Anonymous” [...]

You Gotta Want It

Creating healthy habits can be hard. In order to change our bad habits to good habits, we have to want to. We have to have the willpower and determination to do it.

Of course it is hard at first. But with time it gets easier and easier to stick with the healthy changes.

Everyday I read success storie… Continue

Soda and You

How many cans of soda have you had today? This week? This month? For some, it may be none, for some, it may be a lot.

In case you haven't heard, soda and soft drinks are not that good for you. Here's what Marion Nestle says in What to Eat (yup, still reading it and still enjoying it):… Continue

Hey Blake - I live in Spanish Fork and have been wanting to do a triathlon for a long time. I peeked at your website and thought it looked great...I need to explore around it a little bit more and see if you mention any training groups for triathlons, since I don't know of any. Such a small world - my hubby is going to byu right now. :)

What a great picture, and I love your goals. Another member you might want to get to know is also very interested in triathons, in fact, she training right now. Check out Summergirl.

My children went to see the documentary at the theater. After watching this, they plan to improve their shopping even more. I will eventually see it at least when it comes to DVD so I can forward some animal slaughter parts... :(
