I am so sorry to hear that Eve. I will pray for you and your family. It is important to remember that in these rough times God is there. Your daughter has a loving mother and that counts for a lot. I will be thinking of you and i believe that good will come of this even though it does not look like that now. God bless you Eve. - Lori

I have been very busy with my new job and have had a kind of a hard time adjusting to my new work schedule. Otherwise, my life is going well. I have come a long ways since 1st moving here in February. I bought a new car 2 weeks ago - a Nissan Rogue which was a huge step for me and it felt great to do it totally on my own.
I have been focusing mostly on my walk with the Lord lately and feel that I am growing closer to him all the time. I don't feel as needy as I use to to and may be why I have not blogged lately. I am more at peace with myself and my life.
How are you doing? Please fill me in on how your life is going. I will try to get back to blogging again. Take care - Lori

Hi, Eve.

Thanks for your comment.

My dad was in the US navy in ww2, and me and two of my brothers were in the IDF. May we live in a world where we don't have to have any more armies! Havea great day

Hi Eve

I just wanted to thank you for all the support you have given me. It has been so helpful to have friends like you while going through my major life change. I have never been one to reach out to other people.

Idaho Falls, Idaho
Relationship Status
Single
About Me:
I'm 59, overweight, and diabetic. Also I have a beautiful daughter and 4 rambunctious grandchildren. I have chronic health problems one of which is pancreatitis. This means what I eat doesn't always digest properly. I am plagued by frequent nausea and diarrhea. Trying to follow a healthy diet including fruits and vegetables exacerbates this problem. Some days I live on cheese and toast (or crackers) - it's all I can tolerate.

What diets have you tried?
Weight Watchers, ADA
What things do you want to do before you die?
I've never considered life in those terms. What I want to do every day is give as much as possible to others, live so as to make my mother proud, love 'til it hurts.

Whatever I'm reading currently.

Just Checking In

I've been rather conspicuous by my absence around here lately. Many things on my mind and much taking up my time. I'll try to be better about checking in regularly. Thanks to those who expressed concern and support when I talked about my daughter's marital problems. Her divorce is now final and we are all trying to move on and create a new life. We have some cleaning and purging to do on this house and then we will be listing it for sale. We want to move closer to friends and family.

Hemp Oil

After reading the article that Diana posted on hemp oil, I got some and started taking it. I just recently got lab results showing my total cholesterol has dropped from 296 to 181 and triglycerides have decreased from 880 to 194. My total cholesterol to HDL ratio has gone from 8.2 to 4.1. These are all dramatic improvements. I have not made any other significant changes in diet or medication.

My Visit to the Diabetic Educator

I saw the diabetic educator today and got started on Humalog and Lantus. I use a pen for both. Hooray!! This should bring my blood sugars back down into the normal range and let me feel a whole lot better very soon.

She explained to me that I got the insulin resistance (and the whole Syndrome X cluster) from one ancestor and the Type 1 beta cell damage from another. I commented that I was a combination of the two types. She grinned and told me, "We call that Type 3." So I guess I'm a Type 3. I… Continue

Not Lab Rat - Screen Fail

I failed one of the screening tests to become a lab rat. It seems as though there is a small problem with me taking part in a study of Type 2 Diabetics. I'm a Type 1. Man you could have knocked me over with a very small feather. I've been a Type 2 (At least that's what they told me) for over 15 years. I asked the educator if it's possible to switch Types. She said I'm more likely a "Slow 1" (not to be confused with Sloe gin). It seems that Slow 1's have very gradual pancreatic damage. But one of… Continue
