About Me:
Ah, the obligatory About Me post...

The quick rundown is that after a lifetime of being obese, I made the decision to lose weight and keep it off in 2006. I joined Weight Watchers, lost between 125-130 pounds and have kept it off for about a year as I write this.

In addition to keeping the weight off, I'm trying to improve my healthy lifestyle day by day. I am currently learning to wean myself off of as much processed food as I can and attempting to work more exercise into my life.

I'm a Type 2 diabetic (off all meds for about a year now!) and have high blood pressure, but otherwise I'm in fairly good shape considering what I've put my body through over the years. I guess what they say is true - it's never too late!

What are your goals?
To live as long as my grandfather, who passed away in 2004 at the ripe old age of 94.
Favorite Music:
Oldies, Classic Rock, Jazz
Favorite TV Shows:
I lost control of the remote years ago, but every once in a while I get to watch some NFL football or DVDs of some of my favorite shows, including Babylon 5, The Prisoner, Monty Python and the Classics: Looney Toons and the Stooges.
What is your current exercise routine?
Right now I'm in the middle of the Hundred Push Up Challenge, and I'm hoping to be able to complete a 5K on the 4th of July.
What diets have you tried?
I lost over 125 pounds on Weight Watchers and have kept it off for about a year so far. Years ago I lost 50 on Atkins but couldn't stay on it for longer than 3 months and wound up gaining it back plus some. Before I got married back in the 80's I went on a diet of my own design and lost 40 pounds. I looked damn good and it was the last time I was ever at a healthy weight as an adult for over 20 years. Until now, of course. :)
What things do you want to do before you die?
LIVE!
What is your favorite book?
I CAN eat just one potato chip. But I can't name just one favorite book. I love to read...

Wow, it's so exciting to see so many people who are participating in the 100 push-ups challenge, although you also have several other healthy goals..................:)

I hope you keep us updated on the various goings on, and welcome to Iowa Avenue.

That's what I thought--@ 28 weeks sounds like it may be a tough choice for women to "break" the cycle, though. Thanks for posting this very important information which, I'm sure, will benefit women for something to be aware of.

yes, of course, we don't know what causes gestational diabetes, but we have some clues. The placenta supports the baby as it grows. Hormones from the placenta help the baby develop. But these hormones also block the action of the mother's insulin in…

Interesting. Isn't it fairly typical for most pregnant women to gain weight anyway though?
