Well, we just got to Phoenix and the humidity here after all the storms isn't much different from Georgia...so much for a rest from humidity!

Thank you for the invite! I am enjoying your blog posts and plan to visit again! I'm thinking about joining an event the company I work for is having called HealthQuest. It's not a marathon, but it requires some dedication and is a big commitment! Reading about your goal to finish a marathon is an inspiration. Thanks!

Trying out the earthy thing with a new design called simplicitees. Earth, conservation, healthy lifestyle kind of things. Would love your opinions if I am allowed to ask here. If not, please excuse and disregard this comment. Still learning all the rules - thanks for being patient with me.

Cowgirl, Hippie, Naturalist

So, I have been told I confuse people. I sometimes feel like I’m a little Donny and a little Marie.

I turn off the water while I brush my teeth. I recycle pretty much everything, and even bring scraps of paper home from work to recycle. I compost. I buy organic. I would love to have the money to own a Prius. I support the Democratic Party but believe they have gone too mainstream, too center. I am not that politically active, but I hav… Continue

A Mountain Lion and Me

I started training again, marathon training that is. It was a tough decision. I was getting used to having more time at home to chill out after ten days skipped. But I went the other day, and then again today. Beat the heat and got my butt out there before sun-up.

And then, second day back, feeling so virtuous and good for getting out and running, I saw tracks. Uh, huh. Tracks. Not little bunny rabbit tracks. No, the maker of these trac… Continue

Some Things I Have Learned From My Dogs

I have always said that I prefer the company of my dogs to many humans I know.

I write a lot about my daughter and husband. I write a lot about the thing that still amazes me – that somehow I am a Mom. Not a morning passes without me waking up and wondering how, after all these years such a wonderful thing happened so late in my life. I write about marathon training, and injuries and foibles that bestow themselves upon me as I attempt to make my life a healthier happier example for my da… Continue

Are Grocery Stores Keeping Our Kids Nutritionally Deprived?

Have you ever noticed how grocery stores are set up? The good, healthy (and usually more expensive items per calorie) are on the outside of the store. Fancy end cap displays that draw you into the center of the store tend to pull you toward the sweet, high-calorie, SALE items sure to cause sugar-addiction and bad eating habits.
Seriously though. I live in an area where we have several communities that traditionally are lower-income groups, with greater health problems.
