Iowa Avenue

Work and motherhood took over any waking time (and sometimes sleeping time too!) I had this week... thus I haven't done much in the realm of training or blogging... however the weekend holds potential to take care of personal business. :)
I got an email from Rudy Project yesterday via the IM distribution list... which advertised sponsorship opportunities for individuals or teams in Tri or running. Hmmmmmm :) So... I replied. I'm not some phenomenal participant garnering awards .... but why not sponsor a hardworking age-grouper? I sent a brief email to the contact listed arnd 5pm on Friday. Hopefully I'll have a reply early next week. It would be nice to have some free gear schwag.

The eating plan is still going really well. I'm A week and a half in since day 1. I faltered slightly on Wednesday evening, with a low-fat 2nd helping of black beans at dinner... but sacrificed a fruit serving in an... "uneven" calorie exchange. I realize the fruit is lower in cals... but.. oh well... a small compromise. PMS week cravings are tough when trying to eat healthy....well for me at least. Although, I've given up some of my biggest "vices" ... cake, cookies, real sodas (replaced with diet pepsi or gingerale 1 allowed per day), and mexican from my FAVORITE restaurant... it is NOT low anything.

Anyways...I'm planning to blog later about my athletic history.... my roots. I think it's interesting and a rather unique "kid's roots in sports" story. I feel like it's a big part of this journey... to analyze where I came from... what recipe of life events brought me to the IM decision... and lifestyle.

For now... off to the farmers market to buy produce.. produce... and more produce. :)

Can't wait to read about your athletic history. Sounds like you have a plan and are doing well. I wish you all the best.

I wish you luck with the sponsorship. It makes sense for them to give to "hardworking" people. I think by donating to "regular" people whose goal is to achieve a new goal is more exciting and inspiring than sponsoring a "phenomenal" participant.

Now, that you've set us up, I'm really looking forward to reading your upcoming blogs......................:)

BTW, what did you purchase at the farmer's market?

Oh, I wish I could run a healthy restaurant or food store selling healthy prepared goodies... but it takes a lot of money and a lot of effort to compete with big ones! ................ :(
