Happy 4th of July!
Yesterday I registered for my first FULL marathon. That's 26.2 miles kids. We finally have a local race in Raleigh, NC again, after many years without a marathon...(2007 was the actual revival of the race) something about lack of corporate sponsors or something as to why it vanished. Odd since so many major co's are headquartered in this area as of the last decade. Anyways... the race isn't until 11/2/08 so I have 16 wks to prepare. I'm stoked... plus some of the route covers the amazingly beautiful state park in which I normally train. They also seem to have changed the course for this year... it will now begin and end on the campus of NC State Univ.'s tech campus... "Centennial Campus". It's gorgeous and modern. This is quite exciting to me. I think there were traffic issues on the old course... anyways. I'm laying the groundwork for 2009 events by competing in this race in '08. Also.. the new course topography is supposed to be like BOSTON. As in THE prestigious Boston Marathon....including heartbreak hill. Hmmm what evil genius thought of this? Lol. Anyways.. I need some challenge.. so it's all good. Spent today by doing a 3 mi trail run... passed many beautiful horses and of course my son demanded to pet each and every one of them. He got his way too :) . The horses seem to adore him. They're nothing short of amazing creatures. After lunch we spent the remainder of the aftn in the pool at my sister's home. FUN FUN FUN. I have a great tan to show for my efforts. ;)
Okay.. off to fireworks and frozen custard :).. not necessarily in that order ;) keep it happy and safe out there webfriends! Oh and ya know I'll be watching Boston's celebration later on PBS or CBS? hehe... family tradition.
